Sara has spent over 30 years in the mental health field supporting children, adults, and families impacted by trauma and nervous system dysregulation. She is passionate about equipping therapists, caregivers, teachers, and volunteers with practical, somatically grounded tools that foster regulation, healing, and deeper therapeutic processing. Sara also loves partnering with parents to help them understand their child’s emotional world and build regulation-focused parenting strategies.
She is the founder and first president of the Minnesota Association for Play Therapy and received the MNAPT Shining Star Award in 2020 for her contributions to the play therapy community. She is also a co-creator of Somatic Experiential Play Therapy.
When she’s not teaching or in the playroom, Sara enjoys warm weather, music, reading, painting, and spending time with family and friends.
